Accepting my imperfections is something I decided to do. Like most women, I began to look at what society stated was perfect and I become frustrated every time I looked in the mirror. Magazines and television commercials all portrayed the “perfect woman” image years ago. And every woman, including myself, tried to live up to that image.
We changed our hair, lost weight, added or decreased our natural body parts just to look like the image that society displayed in the magazines and on television. Guess what, all that image stuff has changed! It changed because we changed.
Accepting Imperfections
Many women struggled to lose weight and fit into the size 2 dress size like we when we were younger. Some of us may have even skipped the size 2 dress and jumped to the size 5. I know I did… simply because some of my body parts wasn’t made to be in a size 2. 😊
Some men like thin women and some like us on the thick side. I’ve always jumped from thin to thick. My mother always told me to “look in the mirror and if you don’t like what you see, do something about it.” Whichever way I am, I look in the mirror and I tell myself…
“Who I am is okay, and that what I’m doing is good enough. Of course, I make mistakes and get off track sometimes, but that doesn’t mean that I’m not as good as everyone else. No one is perfect, and that’s just fine.”
